Wild Horse happens to be one of the largest inland island in the USA, located on the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.  Wild Horse Island has a rich history dating back to when the the Salish-Kootenai Indians used it to keep their horses safe from being stolen by other tribes. Now you know how it got that unique name!

Wild Horse Island has over 2,100 acres of varied landscapes, the islands trail system is perfect for all levels of hiking abilities.
