Flathead Lake and Northwest Montana Fishing Report for Early June

June 9, 2022

Flathead Lake

The lake trout action has been pretty solid for a couple weeks now. It’s hard to say what the big influx of “chocolate milk” runoff water will bring for success, but try mid lake bar in 120-150’ of water. Rapala’s, scatter raps and Brad’s Superbaits in fire tiger and perch patterns have been the ticket. East Bay is still slow right now.

Lake Mary Ronan

There has been an excellent salmon bite recently! Try fishing in about 30’ of water near Camp Tuffit. Also, there is some good perch action in about 20-30’ feet of water. Try Hali jigs for both salmon and perch.

There should be some good post-spawn largemouth bass action kicking in just about any day now, if it hasn’t started already.
As always, please report northern pike catches to FWP.

Dickey Lake

Right now, in Dickey Lake, we have a great salmon bite in 50’ of water on bottom.

McGregor Lake

Good numbers of Lake Trout , try trolling spoons in 60’ of water.

Middle Thompson

Nice salmon trolling East end. Also good pike in the bays with smelt.

Good luck and take care!
Water is cold and lower ends of rivers may appear slow…they are NOT!
