Flathead Valley Fishing Report for Week of April 22nd 2024

April 24, 2024

Rodgers Lake

The grayling are active and biting well. Anglers should try small jigs under a bobber or small black flies for the best results. Dark-colored spinners are also proving effective.

Echo Lake

Bass are on the move in 12 to 15 feet of water and even in shallower areas as water temperatures have reached the mid-50s. Swimbaits are particularly effective.

Flathead Lake (East Bay)

There’s good perch activity, especially as we’re on the tail end of the spawn. The fish are still actively feeding.

Swan Lake

This lake is seeing strong numbers of pike, best caught using dead bait or by casting large jerk baits.

McGregor Lake

Rainbow trout are readily hitting trolling plugs along the shoreline, and there are also a few lake trout to be had.

Loon Lake (Bigfork)

Trout fishing is excellent, with flies and PowerBait off the shore both working well.

Lake Koocanusa

Trout are biting consistently, especially when trolling flies or plugs behind planer boards. The Rexford area and near the Libby Dam are recommended spots.

Blanchard

Anglers report catching a few bass and crappie in this area.

These updates should help guide your fishing adventures this week. Happy casting!
